Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) presents very differently in each person, hence the name spectrum; however, there are some common core symptoms across social interactions, communication, and behavior. Signs usually appear in early childhood, though some may be noticed later.

1. Social Interaction and Communication Difficulties

--> Limited eye contact or unusual body language (like staring too intensely without usual breaks) or nodding or shrugging

--> Difficult understanding or using gestures, facial expressions, or tone of voice

--> Trouble forming or maintaining friendships

--> Prefers to play alone or has difficulty with group plays

2. Restricted or Repetitive Behaviors

--> Repetitive movements (Hand-flapping, rocking, spinning)

--> insistence on routines or sameness; distress at small changes

--> Highly focused interests (sometimes very narrow or unusual)

--> Repetitive use of objects (lining up toys, spinning wheels)

3. Sensory Differences

--> Over or under-reacting to sensory input (sounds, light, textures, smells, touch)

--> Unusual responses such as covering ears, avoiding certain clothing, or fascination with lights/movement.
Hysteria = physical pain, seizures, paralysis, and emotional outbursts.
