​What is the NGT and What are its uses ? 

​

A nasogastric (NG) tube is inserted through the nose into the stomach to provide nutrition/medication, or to remove gastric contents (decompression). It is used when a patient cannot swallow safely (stroke, neurological disorders) or when the stomach needs to be emptied due to bowel obstruction, vomiting, or post-surgery.

 

Common Conditions Requiring NG Tube:Stroke, Dementia, or Parkinson’s Disease.Head/neck cancer causing swallowing issues.Small bowel obstruction.Severe burns or trauma.Premature infants needing feeding support.
